Did you mean…?

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

While searching for some fine Tim Burton music on Spotify today, I entered ‘Batman returns’ in the search box. While I found what I was looking for (namely this), Spotify asked if I didn’t actually mean ‘boatman return’… Uhm - no?

Shuffle

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Approximately six weeks ago I hit the “Shuffle Songs” option on my iPod (which would play all songs on the iPod in a random order, for those who don’t know). It was a though time, but just now, I reached song 3835, i.e. the last one - Solarium, by Boards of Canada. What a historical moment! Yay for me! :)

Look! It’s music on MTV!

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Yesterday (or on some other day in the past) MTV launched a new service: mtvmusic.com And it’s great! I, having a music video fetish, am really happy about this! It’s kind of similar to YouTube, but videos are grouped by artists and have additional information. The best one being the director! Yay! This way I learned that Michel Gondry has an older brother, who edited the Daft Punk live cuts from Alive 2007! Unbelievable! :D

Fancy some sea cucumber?

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

I don’t quite remember how it started, but today, after donating to some Earth-saving organisations, Marina and I though how it would suck, if our (great amount) money would be spend on saving a sea cucumber. I believe most of you have never seen or hear of this great animal (some even refer to it as the king of the sea animality). If I’m right - go and type ’sea cucumber’ into Google and I think the image results will be self-explaining.

At first Marina did not believe it was really an animal, but a synonym for “someone took a crap in the see”. However I could convince her with this very educational video about the sea cucumber defence mechanism. As you can read in the video description “as a defense mechanism a sea cucumber will shoot part of its resperatory system out of its body when bothered. Fish will go after the guts and give the cucumber time to scoot away and live another day.” I’m really amazed how nature has come up with that one!

And it turns out - sea cucumbers are a delicates in some parts of Asia… Yuck!

Hello dear friends of porn, watch out!

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

I almost forgot. Yesterday they played another pearl of the German house scene - ‘The girl with the red necklace’. It’s actually quite old, but I just want to share the lyrics with the non-German speaking world. Basically they sampled an 70’s or 80’s porn ad. If you want, you can watch the music video or the trailer for the film!!!! Following is a translation of the entire ad - priceless! (The highlighted parts can be heard in the song.) (more…)

Spamers ftw!

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

While browsing the comments of a video on YouTube I discovered this masterpiece of spam:

“islam woman has sex with white man while eating bacon…video on channel”

That’s like the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen! Like - why should that be more exciting that “regular porn”? I really don’t want to imagine the poor bastard, who’s like “oh yeah baby, eat that bacon! You’ve been a bad girl, you know you deserve it!”. And the fact that it is _islam_ woman and _white_ man makes the author even more of a stupid moron!

PS: What’s brown and sticky?….. That’s right - a stick. :)

CD Exchange thing, part 2

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Recently I told you about this thing where you send your address, later get 2 addresses, submit 2 CDs to this addresses and hopefully get 2 CDs from some random people around the earth. Well - the time has come and I’ve got the addresses of the guys, whom I have to send a CD. But I must admit - I’m not sure if it’s going to work, as (to prevent stalking) you get right address, but you don’t get the real name, but the YouTube nickname. And I’m pretty sure our postman won’t know where drop the letter, if it says “TheredGuy”. So I obviously asked them to forward my real name, as I don’t believe someone will start sending me stalker letters :D (more…)

Valentine’s day annoyance

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

So I’ve been receiving all kind of messages from different Facebook apps a la `Find a Valentine’s day date`, `Will you be my Valentine`, `Beer!` (ok - this one isn’t very valentine-ish, but anyway), `You have a dating request`, etc… etc… etc… The best part was as I opened Google Docs this morning, to seek for nothing, when I saw their great design for today! At least the day is almost over :)

Daft Punk and Stuff

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Recently Daft Punk have gained a lot of popularity around here. You see more and more people joining Daft Punk groups in StudiVZ (= German Facebook alternative) and it’s no exception that you’ll see people go mad in the club when a Daft Punk song is played. And to avoid some misunderstanding - it’s not songs from their last albums, which are played, but the really old stuff that is now like 14 years old or something. (more…)

CD exchange thing

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

If you don’t want to watch this video, I can just sum things up and tell you what it’s all about. You send your address to these guys and then you receive two addresses of some random people who are in game as well. You send one mixtape CD with your favourite music to each address and you are expected to receive 2 such CDs from two other random persons, participating in this game. Personally, I think it’s an interesting thing to do, since I’m always eager to find new music!
