The favs!

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Hello there guys. I’ve been planning this post for at least 5 years…. Or maybe 3 months… Just a long time… And finally got the motivation to write it. So here goes a brief list of my all time favorite music videos! (in alphabetical order). There are undoubtedly many other music videos that are fantastic, but I believe these ones are all masterpieces, and hence I put them in my awesome list. (I just hope all the videos are available in your country ;) ) (more…)

Monkey business

Hey guys, how is it going?

I just got mail from France - the Arctic Monkeys tickets! Yay! Petia and I are going to their concert on November 5th in Paris. According to the info I got now, luckily I’ve got no lectures in this week! So chances are good, I’ll be going. Two days ago I also got the songbooks for both their albums (as I intend to learn play the guitar - whoohoo!). Let’s see how long it will take, until I can play anything…

Less then 3

Long time no read… or write… Anyway - I’ve been quite busy in the past few months, hence the enormous amount of posts on here ;) So here we go: an ordinary post reflecting what’s happened lately. However, I can’t be bothered with a chronological order, sorry :(

My Wii got stolen. It was at my office while I went for a week of snowboarding in Bulgaria with Roman, Lora and Alex (boy, that was fun!!!). All they’ve left was the guitar hero controllers (probably because of their size). I didn’t buy another one, but Oli and Alma lent me theirs for the time all the folks from Bulgaria were here visiting me (which was again an amazing time).Which I’m really glad they did, as Ivan and I fucking rocked most songs :D Meanwhile Alex had moved to Karlsruhe for his new job and most of the weekends he spends here, sleeping on his amazing inflatable mattress, which I bought just for him. (Amazing like in “after sleeping on it one night, my neck was killing me for 3 or 4 days…”).

As 09.09.09 is getting closer, I slowly start feeling slightly excited about moving to Edinburgh. I still have to find a flat or something… But I’m sure things will sort out in time :D However we’ve still got no plans for summer holiday and I doubt that we’ll manage anything decent this year.

My music taste has shifted quite suddenly by approximately 78° yet again. Three months ago one online music shop sold each album for as cheap as 5€ so I bought like 10 albums of different bands and genres. While being known for fancying all kind of electronic music (Daft Punk, Amon Tobin, Vitalic, House in general, etc), I really got into bands like Muse and Mando Diao. Some days ago I found a new TV channel - MTV HD. I think it’s British and in contrast to all the German music channels, it’s program does not consist almost entirely of ads for ring tones and stupid shows like “Rock of love 2″. And after watching Brianstorm

two days ago, I’m now stuck with Arctic Monkeys. Today I got the last album along with a DVD of theirs *yay*. My train trip to Karlsruhe in half an hour will be quite fun after all ;)

Meanwhile I also turned 25 and I’m switching to a Mac. I wonder how that will work out :) Well… I can’t think of anything else that could be of interest to anyone out there and I have to catch the train anyway.

See you later, innovator ;)

Bad news

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Long time no read, guys. I cannot really say I was busy lately. Everything has been the same, except that got quite into snowboarding. However, judging from the title, you probably can guess that the post wont be as “happy” as most of the posts here, so you are welcome to skip reading it, if you’re not in the right mood ;)
Yesterday in the evening I got the news that my father has passed away. We weren’t really in contact - last time I saw him was 2 years ago. But nevertheless I was really shocked. Especially since so far in my life I have been fortunate enough not to loose some close family member or friend. The most common sentence I get to hear is “he is in a better place now”, which is indeed a bit comforting. Especially knowing how his life has been for the past 10 years or so. But still it’s quite an oppressive feeling to know I won’t get another opportunity to talk to him or write him a letter or visit him again.
The funeral was today, so I was not able to be there. But my mother went (as probably most of you don’t know - my parents got divorced shortly after I was born and did not stay in touch). And seems like it was really good, as there were so many of his friends and family there (from what I know, lot’s of them did not spend much of their time with him either in the past years). And after the funeral they all gathered in a restaurant and talked about old stories and remembered good times with him. Indeed a great way to say goodbye…

What an explosion!

A few hours ago I landed in Frankfurt. That was the end of my one week Bulgaria holiday :( And it was really a great time, despite some unfortunate ongoings  - the lack of gas and heating and as a result me getting sick. But anyway - Sofia still kicks ass in many other regards. I’m truly amazed how I managed to “switch my thinking”, completely forgetting about any (negative and annoying) issues and tasks that wait for me here in Germany.

The climax of my stay was definitely the last evening. Unfortunately not the entire lot could join us partying in ALC2OH5OL. Yet other undesired persons again managed to join uninvited (but after their pancakes the other day, I start to get used to them ^^). What a great evening it was!

Shoes

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Hey everybody! I hope you had a great, enjoyable Christmas time. Most of you probably are waiting for my yearly post, introducing my presents ( from the left to the right ;) ), but unfortunately I have bad news for you: I did not make a photo, so… This year we’ll have to skip this great tradition ^^ But I got shoes… and a coat.. and a scarf and a t-shirt and other stuff as well ;)

How did you spent this great time of year? Did you have any GTA-like adventures, where your were rushing through the streets, hitting cars, getting your windows smashed by angry drivers?  No? ^^

Deep Ischgl

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

I’m really in a hurry, so this will be a very short post.

On Friday, Marie, Matej and I went to the Heidelberg club ‘Deep’. The second time I was there. It is supposed to be one of those fancy clubs, so I had to dress with a tie and everything. Luckily getting in wasn’t a problem. I even got in for free, cause I was like “Hey, actually I should be on the guest list, except Niels [that’s the name of the DJ] forgot to put me on it” and the guy at the entrance: “Uhmm - he didn’t give me a list at all, but OK, you may enter!” Yay for me :D So it comes handy to know people’s first names ^^

The club and the music were quite OK, but the crowd was pretty lame. At least there were just too many weird people. First there was the guy that would always come, situate himself between us, rest for a minute and then start this reeeaaally odd dance with somebody/something that wasn’t actually there - drugs are bad, children! Then there were those guys that were about to start a fight like… 5 times? But luckily each time there was no security to stop them -.- And finally, as some of the people had left and the dance floor wasn’t that full any more, two guys and two girls came, who would just push each other around for as long as we stayed… Honestly, I don’t know how it can be amusing to someone in my age to be pushed around all the time, hitting other people on the dance floor, making a clown out of oneself… (You don’t say that in English, do you? ^^ )

I’m in a hurry, because any moment Alma (the wife of one of my bosses) is going to pick me up, since we’re going to Ischgl for 4 days of company sponsored, winter sports fun. Obviously, I’m not going just with Alma ;) The whole company is going, but we will meet the rest there. I’ll be attending some snowboard training courses, as I’ve never done winter sports before. Hold your fingers crossed that I’ll be back with no broken bones ;)

Hat tip to blog readers that subscribe to youtube accounts ;)

Music and all the stuff around it

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

I just felt like writing another great post, so here it is.

I don’t know if you are well informed about the German music scene, but a lot of things have happened lately. Namely, two great artists have emerged. The first you might have heard about, as he’s been around for some time now. This someone is the greatest of all Jimi Blue. Though you might know his previous single - Hey Jimi!… Heeeyyy…

And the second artist is… … … *drum roll* … Me :) Last Monday I got meself a brand new Guitar Hero for the Wii and it was definitely the right think to do :) The second guitar followed on Friday. You’ll probably say “you spend way too much money on the Wii”, but you are wrong - I don’t. I got both guitars AND the Legends Of Rock game for as less as 40 Euro… And that’s friggin cheap, keeping in mind that usually you can’t get one guitar for that money. Avni and I are already playing some songs on hard… and I must admit - we’re miserable :D We just have not found out yet how to efficiently deal with the 5th button ^^
